Local Updates (24/7) Guilderland hazardous waste day set fro Sept. 19 Posted on: 09/17/09 Written by: Spotlight Newsroom, Staff email: news@spotlightnews.com The Town of Guilderland will host a household hazardous waste collection day on Saturday on Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to information from the town's Web site. The event will be held at the the town's highway department at 6338 French's Mill Road in Guilderland Center and a pass is required to participate. The pass can be obtained at the Transfer Station or Clerk's Office and a a vehicle registration is required. Acceptable items are; Pesticides, Herbicides, Insecticide, paints (oil base, latex), wood preservatives and stains, thinners and solvents, drain cleaners, swimming pool chemicals, hobby chemicals and paints, gasoline and kerosene, automotive fluids and batteries, cleaning products, acids and bases, asbestos (wet and double bagged), and fluorescent light bulbs. Unacceptable items include; explosives and ammunition, medical and infectious waste, fireworks, radioactive materials, controlled substances, known dioxins, compressed gases, commercial and industrial wastes, empty paint cans, empty aerosols, household alkaline batteries.
