While much of Europe slept through the “Dark Ages,” intellectuals in the Arab/Islamic world were helping create the foundation for modern empirical science and the scientific method. Prof. George Saliba of Columbia University, author of "Islamic Science and the Making of the European Renaissance," will discuss how Arab/Islamic developments from this period led to significant advances in medicine and pharmacology.
