The Northeast String Orchestra, Inc., a non-profit youth orchestra was established in 2007 to provide beginning and intermediate string players with opportunities to learn the fundamentals of ensemble playing and to develop their musical and technical abilities. The Northeast String Orchestra (NSO) aims to build a friendly, enriching and supportive community for young string players and their families. The NSO has become the Capital Region’s first choice for study and support of a young child’s first experience in ensemble playing and exploration of the orchestral repertoire. The NSO welcomes young musicians, ages 7 – 14 years of age.
Prelude Strings is designed for beginning string players who are in their first years of learning a string instrument, and welcomes children ages 6 -11.
Both the NSO and Prelude Strings provide young musicians with a non-competitive and balanced learning environment which captivates each child’s energy, focus and interest.
