The Albany Figure Skating Club’s medal-winning Achilles Edge Synchronized Skating Team will hold two events designed to introduce area figure skaters to the exciting sport of synchronized skating. There will be a free Synchro Clinic on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, which will focus on synchro skills, and an Open House on Sunday, May 5th from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, which will give skaters the opportunity to skate with current team members. Both events are free for participants, and will be held at the Albany County Hockey Facility (830 Albany-Shaker Rd., Albany). Interested figure skaters of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform maneuvers together as a group. According to United States Figure Skating, it is the fastest-growing figure skating discipline in the United States. Synchro is great training for all figure skaters – it helps with speed, turns, coordination, stamina, and edges.
