Open your heart and home to a future guide dog puppy. Learn what it’s like to be a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy raiser from Guiding Eyes staff, volunteers and guide dogs in training. Puppy raisers take 8 week old pups into their homes to love, nurture, and educate for a 12 to 16 month period before sending them off to their calling as a guide dog for a blind or visually impaired person. Residents in and around the Capital area invited to attend. The orientation series begins October 15 and prospective volunteers must attend all three classes to become a puppy raiser. Free. RSVP required (email preferred). dutchbucky@aol.com. 518 372-7300. www.guidingeyes.org/volunteer/puppy-raising.
