Town board member Bill Chapman, a veteran local official running for a seat on the Schenectady County Legislature this year, encouraged inclusion of county issues in the survey that's expected to go out this month.

"The county has a lot to do with issues like open space, the nature preserves and economic development that directly affect preservation of historic resources and our natural environment," Chapman said. "The county has also been involved with maintaining the bike path and the county historian with towns on issues of historic preservation.

"The preservation of historic properties and our natural resources is something I am running on and I think it's a very important priority," said Chapman, a Democrat.
