DELMAR: Jockeying for primary position

Democrat Howard Shafer of Selkirk, will attempt a write-in candidacy against his opponent, newcomer Pat Dorsey. Shafer is the current legislator in the 36th District, however Dorsey received the endorsement of the county Democratic committee. Shafer challenged Dorsey's candidacy in court, but the challenge was thrown out. Meanwhile Dorsey and Shafer will square off in both the Independence and Democratic primaries while Shafer will also file an opportunity to ballot for the Conservative Party line.

Bethlehem Democrats will also be asked on primary day to choose between incumbent Michael F. Connors II or Patricia Slavik for Albany County Comptroller. Slavik, who serves on the Guilderland town board and works for the State Comptrollers office, is the Democratic Party's designated candidate. The two comptroller candidates are each vying for the Independence Party line as well.""
