Trahn is following in family footsteps with this competition.
"My dad is an engineer, and my sister did this competition before," he said.
Roysam also comes from an engineering family.
Saia and Salam, although not genetically inclined, have dedicated themselves to their team. Saia doing a lot of the research, and Salam working with Whitley to define their parameters and what an "infrastructure" actually was.
So far, team members said they are having fun working on the project.
The next piece of the project, an essay describing their city design, is due Dec. 11. The actual competition will take place Jan. 19 at Hudson Valley Community College at 8 a.m.""
