An eight-year-old Bethlehem boy will be making a special guest appearance on two nationally televised shows in the next few days.
Anthony Garguila of Glenmont is scheduled to appear Friday, Dec. 7, on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The announcement of Garguila's appearance was made at the Wednesday, Dec. 5, Bethlehem school board meeting by Garguila's Hamagrael School Principal Dave Ksanznak.
Garguila, who has been singing almost since he could speak, made his first public appearance at 5 years old when he entered and won a Radio Disney singing competition at the Crossgates Mall in Albany. Garguila sang,
Midnight Train to Georgia, which allowed him the opportunity to enter a professional music studio to make a demo tape. Since then, Garguila became a YouTube sensation when a recent video was released showing him singing the national anthem at a Siena College basketball game. Garguila is also expected to be on "The Today Show," on NBC, Monday morning, Dec. 10.
The Ellen DeGeneres show will air locally on WRGB Channel 6 Friday at 4 p.m. Garguila is being billed as an eight-year-old "with the voice of a 30 year old who is going to leave you screaming for more." Famous country singer Trisha Yearwood will also be on the "Ellen" show with Anthony on Friday.
