Dutchmen off to flying start

Guilderland also has several promising underclassmen including middleweight Eugene Sellie, who earned the team's wrestler of the week honor after pushing Colonie's J.J. Anderson in a 7-4 loss at last Wednesday's league opener.

"It was 7-4, but it was 4-4 with 30 seconds left," said Rogotzke. "And Anderson was rated No. 2 in the section in the 140-pound weight class going into the match."

Dan Bennison, Kevin Bates, Matt Hart and Brendan Ruddy are among the other young wrestlers Rogotzke and Favro are hoping to get contributions from.

"Our underclassmen " even the ones who lost (against Colonie) " wrestled with a lot of pride, and that's all that we ask for," said Rogotzke.

Guilderland hosts Saratoga Springs Wednesday in a league match before traveling to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake for its annual Lee Van Slyke Memorial Tournament Saturday.""
