Lack of snow forces cancellation of Glenville Winterfest

Organizers of The Town of Glenville's annual Winterfest have been forced to cancel the 2007 event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3 in Indian Meadows Park.

In order to hold planned activities including snow shoeing, skiing and sleigh rides, organizers needed at least another 2-3 inches of snow to blanket the icy grass in the park, but weather forecasts aren't calling for wintry conditions.

The park will remain open for winter activities should snowfall occur, and officials report the ice skating rinks, which are open to the general public, are in excellent condition for free skating and recreational hockey.
