Both students admitted that they have had to learn to balance after-school rehearsal schedules with schoolwork. Marquise, who wants to go to college to study musical theatre, said that he has learned to focus and prioritize.
"I try to get my work done in advance and do it in the dressing room," he said.
Scala, who is also in another play, said that he tries to make the most of his time during school study halls.
According to DiBenedetto Snyder, NYSTI also offers tutoring for young performers who fall behind in their schoolwork or are cast in multiple productions.
DiBenedetto Snyder has devoted much personal and professional energy to working with young actors, and said that she is inspired by the energy that young people bring to the stage.
