Regina Parker, chairwoman of the Town of Halfmoon Republican Committee (R-Halfmoon) today announced that the Town of Halfmoon Republican Committee has unanimously endorsed Melinda A. \Mindy Wormuth (R-Halfmoon), Halfmoon's deputy town supervisor and councilwoman, to serve as the community's next town supervisor.
Parker noted that the departure of incumbent Supervisor Ken DeCerce required the selection of a new town supervisor to fill out the remainder of DeCerce's term. Parker also stated that in addition to already having the necessary qualifications for the position, Wormuth has been the only person in town government thus far to come forward and formally express interest to serve Halfmoon in such a capacity.
"Without question, Mindy has been a hard-working, reliable deputy to our town supervisor. As deputy supervisor, for two years Mindy showed a tremendous ability to build consensus, get things done and provide real leadership on important issues for Halfmoon's future. Mindy's efforts in working with our town's water, recreation and other departments are well known and her contributions in these areas have been recognized," Parker stated.
"I truly believe that Halfmoon taxpayers will be well served by having the continuity of Mindy continuing her service to our town. She has the complete confidence of our entire committee and will do a tremendous job in leading Halfmoon toward a better and brighter future," Parker said.
"I am honored that our Republican committee has placed their faith in my ability to lead and serve Halfmoon's best interests. My two years of serving as deputy supervisor have taught me the importance of listening and making sure there are open lines of communication between taxpayers and elected officials, Wormuth stated.
"Ken is leaving some very big shoes to fill " he did a terrific job leading Halfmoon and I'm sure I speak for many throughout our town when saying his leadership was truly appreciated and he will be missed. I promise to do my very best to serve in the same dedicated, caring and responsive manner that he did as our Halfmoon supervisor," Wormuth said.""
