Dagostino said many students use Helderberg Avenue to get to the Mohonasen schools. A sidewalk would make the road safer for students and residents who want to use the school's facilities.
Superintendent of Mohonasen Central Schools, Kathy Spring, wrote a letter thanking the county Legislature for the money to build the sidewalks.
"Oh behalf of the Mohonasen Central School District, I want to thank you for supporting the installation of these sidewalks, which will assist in the safety of school children. The district has not been in the financial position to do this."
Godlewski said the town will now send the project out for bid, and construction could start this spring. ""
