Porco transferred to Dannemora

— Convicted killer Christopher Porco, a 23-year-old Delmar native, has been transferred from the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill to the Clinton Correctional maximum security prison in Dannemora.

He is now an inmate in the state's largest facility that houses 2,791 inmates, said Foglia.

State Department of Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia, said Porco was transferred on Monday, Jan. 22. Porco was sentenced in December to 50 years to life for the murder of his father, Peter Porco, and ax attack on his mother, Joan Porco, inside their 36 Brockley Drive Home in 2004. An Orange County jury convicted Porco last August.

Porco can receive daily visitors and will take part in several prison programs.

The average cost to house one prisoner in New York is $31,126 annually.
