Young poets shine: Students see their work in national publication

Wrote Arndt: "People Dancing./ Loving and Romancing./ Not noticing the man watching us dance."

Fellow Lincoln fifth grader Sabrina Long wrote a piece inspired by the Rockwell painting "Waiting to be Together: Serviceman and Girlfriend.

She wrote: "Eating together, laughing together, wanting to be together forever "

Maynard said with this school year over, the district is already looking forward to another year of student success within the OPAL program.

At the start of the school year, the district's board of education emphasized its commitment to supporting programs for advanced learners, and Superintendent Susan Swartz said the budget will once again support these types of programs next year.

"We said the '07-'08 budget had a positive impact on all grade levels, and that includes advanced and honors programs as well," said Swartz.
