CLIFTON PARK: Shen shows promise at tourney

The Plainsmen are off until next Tuesday, when they open their Suburban Council schedule with a home game against Niskayuna. During the break, Dzikas said he will work with his players on taking better shots " something that they had trouble with at times during the tournament.

"We've got some guys who can shoot, but they have to settle down a bit. They have to learn to be relaxed and confident when they take their shots," he said.

Other area boys basketball teams will be in action this weekend. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and Saratoga Springs are both hosting tournaments, while Saratoga Central Catholic travels to the Broadalbin-Perth Tournament.

Ballston Spa is playing Batavia and Wayne from Section V in a pair of games in Schenectady County this weekend. Friday's game against Batavia is at Mohonasen High School, and Saturday's contest against Wayne is at Union College.

BH-BL is also hosting a girls basketball tournament beginning Thursday. Ballston Spa plays Academy of Holy Names in the early game, while BH-BL meets Scotia-Glenville in the late game. The consolation and championship games take place Saturday afternoon " prior to the boys tournament's finale.""
