RAVENA: Indians survive mistakes

R-C-S had a chance to build on its lead when Fonda fumbled the third quarter kickoff return at its own 20-yard line, but Nolan's fourth interception of the game halted that series. After that, the Indians didn't threaten to score again.

The R-C-S defense made up for the offense's lack of productivity, though. After Nethaway scored on a 1-yard run midway through the third quarter, the Indians kept coming at anybody in a Fonda uniform carrying the ball. The result was four Braves turnovers.

"We've (played against) two really good passing clubs (Fonda and Albany Academy) the last two weeks, and our defense did a great job both games," said VanDerzee.

Fortier led the R-C-S offense with 167 yards on 27 carries, including a key first down following Murray's interception late in the fourth quarter. Deering added nearly 100 rushing yards.

The Indians host Broadalbin-Perth (7-1) in Friday's class B semifinal round.""
