She said things are going well for her so far.
"It's really relaxed here; everyone seemed excited to be here," she said.
Her experience teaching third grade last year "makes my first year that much easier to transition into. The kids are so great."
Townsend comes from a family of educators. Her uncle, Jim Giuliano, used to be assistant principal in Burnt Hills. She graduated from The College of Saint Rose with a bachelor's degree in childhood education and a master's in literacy from birth to age six, and she has a good deal of experience working as a substitute in districts throughout the area.
