The South Colonie Central School District adopted an $88,275,200 budget Tuesday, April 22.
This estimated budget represents a $441,08 increase from last year's $83,864,400 budget.
Some areas that are scheduled to receive more funding include: Board of Education and administrative salaries, information and technology for administration, librarian salaries, summer school costs, health services costs, youth detention center costs and more.
Less money was proposed in the year's budget in areas of continuing education coordinator's salaries, teachers' and employees' retirement benefits, clerical salaries in the guidance department, supplies for the library, supervision supplies, building repair projects and more.
Vice President of the Board Brian Casey said, This was rather tedious, if you will. It wasn't easy, referring to the creation of this year's budget, which the board has been worked on since the beginning of the school year.
Superintendent of Schools Michael Marcelle thanked the board members for working together to achieve this year's budget, and encouraged further cooperation from the community. "I'm asking everybody out there to go out and support this adopted budget," he said.
The budget will go before voters Tuesday, May 20.
