Voorheesville superintendent resigns

The Board of Education of the Voorheesville Central School District announced Wednesday, April 23, that School Superintendent Linda Langevin has submitted her resignation effective August 31, 2008, as a result of family illness.

Langevin has been the superintendent for the Voorheesville School District since 2005.

She did not disclose specific details about her family illness.

We accept this resignation with regret and thank Ms. Langevin for her loyal and dedicated service to the District, said Board President David Gibson on behalf of the board. "Certainly, neither the board nor Ms. Langevin could anticipate the necessity of this unexpected resignation, but we appreciate the need for Ms. Langevin to address her family's needs."

Langevin said, "I hope the District and the community understand that this is not a decision that I came to lightly. It has been a privilege to serve the District and I hope that the strides we have made in addressing opportunities for children will continue to serve the District well into the future."
