Tournament starts Thursday

The field is set for the Suburban Council boys and girls basketball tournaments, which begin Thursday, Feb. 7, at several area schools.

Guilderland hosts the first round of the boys championship division. The Dutchmen host Blue Division runner-up Shenendehowa at 7:30 p.m., while White Division co-champion Mohonasen meets Blue Division champion Colonie at 6 p.m.

The Division II tournament begins at Averill Park with Shaker facing Niskayuna at 6 p.m. and Bethlehem taking on the host Warriors at 7:30 p.m.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake hosts the first round of the Division III tournament. Columbia meets Saratoga in the 6 p.m. game, while BH-BL plays Ballston Spa at 7:30 p.m.

Shenendehowa is the site for the girls championship division first round. White Division champion Niska-yuna plays Gold Division champ Bethlehem at 6 p.m., with Blue Division cham-pion Shen playing Averill Park at 7:30 p.m.

Saratoga travels to Colonie for the Division II tournament. The Blue Streaks meet Guilderland, while Colonie faces Columbia.

Ballston Spa, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Shaker and Mohonasen make up the girls Division III tournament field.

The winners of each first-round game play in the finals Sunday at Albany's Washington Avenue Armory, while the losers play Saturday at the Armory."
