Beth Bidwell's program offers an up-close look at rescued birds of prey

Bidwell said her overriding goal when she gives talks is to "teach people to love the animals."

Those people who approach "the bird lady" when she's out and about assure her that her message is getting through. People will tell her that they've seen hawks in their backyards and that they're having fun taking note of other animals they never noticed before.

"It definitely sparks an interest in what's going on," she said. "I get swamped with letters."

Borden said that because the program will likely draw a full house, it's important that people call to register. The Albany Pine Bush can be reached at 456-0655. Information is also available on its Web site, www.albanypinebush.org.""
