"It's what we are getting by having this vote after the annexation," he said.

Many of the improvements had already been outlined as part of the district's five-year capital facilities plan. Among the 75 projects are: improvements to building security, technology and energy efficiency; new efficient heating and ventilation equipment; and the replacement of roofs. Work at Maplewood would bring the building up to modern handicap-accessibility codes, including the installation of an elevator.

If approved, the renovations would be completed in three to four years.

Two public meetings took place on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Latham Ridge Forts Ferry and Loudonville. More meetings are scheduled for: Wednesday, Jan. 16, 7 p.m. Blue Creek, Boght Hills and Southgate; Tuesday, Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m., Maplewood; Wednesday, Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m., Shaker High School; and Thursday, Feb. 7, 7 p.m. at Shaker Junior High School.""
