Ellis said she has considered offering grooming services and opening up the store to other pets, but for now is content to let everything go to the dogs.
"I think for now, we'll just stick with canines," she said. It's very big and very overwhelming, and it would be a lot more so if we took anything else on."
According to Ellis, shoppers have responded favorably to the business. She said walk-in traffic has been very high.
"We've lived in Saratoga, we wanted to settle in Saratoga, we are settled in Saratoga, and it's the place," she said. "Saratoga County has a lot of dogs."
Shoppers at the store have said they enjoy looking at all Dawgdom has to offer.
"This is awesome," said dog owner Mary Wilson. "I've had a smile on my face from the beginning."
Wilson, who was visiting the shop for the first time, said she planned to purchase one of the dog paint sets for her pit bull Olivia.
"She's got a feisty personality, and we can't wait to see what she's going to draw," Wilson said.
Dawgdom is located at 441A Broadway, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Monday. For information, call 306-6600.
