"The impact on the campus will be minimal because it will be during the school year, and our focus will be on the students," said Cummings-Danson.
Saratoga Springs Chamber of Commerce President Joe Dalton said that the economic impact will likely be minimal, too.
"If they stay on campus, it would be like a seminar, and if they stay in the community, it would be like a mini convention," said Dalton. "Either way, I don't see it having a major economic impact on the community."
Still, the opportunity to host an NBA team's preseason camp is one Skidmore can't pass up.
"If it happens, it will mean tremendous visibility for the college," said Cummings-Danson.
Cummings-Danson said she expects the Knicks to make a final decision soon.
"I don't know what kind of timeline they're working on, but I suspect they'll have to make up their mind soon because of the logistics involved," she said. "In my own mind, I'm saying that by the end of July they'll make a decision, but it's not from anything that they've actually said to me.""
