The Colonie softball team advanced to the Section II, Class AA semifinals with a 2-0 victory over Suburban Council No. 2 seed Niskayuna Friday at the Veeder Softball Complex in Colonie.
Toni Fusco and Jami Cordell combined on a six-hit shutout, and Kayla Lynch belted a solo home run to lead the Garnet Raiders (18-6) into Tuesday's semifinal against Troy, which upended Columbia 4-1 in another quarterfinal game Friday.
Niskayuna finished the season with a 21-3 record -- its best mark in several years.
In the other two Class AA quarterfinal games Friday, top-seeded Shenendehowa shut out Saratoga 3-0, and Queensbury rallied to beat Guilderland 10-5.
Kelsi Hines and Morgan Sprague each had RBI singles in support of Amanda Ferro's complete-game pitching performance for Shen (22-2). Ferro scattered seven hits and struck out six.
Alyson Onyon matched Ferro's efforts by allowing seven hits and striking out six for Saratoga.
Guilderland -- which upset Bethlehem in the first round -- jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but Queensbury rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good.
Elsewhere Friday, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake advanced to the Class A semifinals with a 12-0 victory over Scotia-Glenville at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Glens Falls.
Leanne Merchant hit a triple, and Caitlyn Rana contributed a double as part of BH-BL's 8-hit attack. Scotia-Glenville managed only one hit off of BH-BL pitching.
The Spartans face Colonial Council champion Lansingburgh in Tuesday's Class A semifinals.
In Class B, Schuylerville scored five runs in the second inning and fended off several Saratoga Central Catholic challenges on its way to a 5-0 quarterfinal victory.
