Niskayuna girls cruise into Class B Final Four

The Niskayuna girls lacrosse team advanced to its first state final four in style.

Leanna Pace scored nine goals to lead the Lady Warriors to a 21-2 victory over Section IX champion Saugerties in Sunday's Class B regional final at Kingston's Deitz Stadium.

Niskayuna (15-5) jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first half and never looked back in advancing to Friday's Class B semifinal in Cortland against the winner of the Long Island regional.

Jenn Primeau contributed four goals, and Carly Richards added a hat trick for Niskayuna. Marie Mutryn (two goals) and Allie Pfohl (one goal, two assists) also had multi-point games.

The Lady Warriors opened regionals with a 13-12 victory over Section I champion Yorktown last Wednesday at the University at Albany.

Pfohl had five goals and two assists, while Primeau and Richards each chipped in a pair of goals for Niskayuna, which won its first regional game. Goaltender Karlee Blank stopped 12 shots."
