Entertainment goes to Extra Innings

The staff consists of former and current professional players and college all- stars.

"There are plenty of opportunities to be taught by older instructors," Fairley said.

He also noted that women teach women's softball lessons at the training center. He said all too often, men are teaching ladies' softball.

The facility offers an array of professional baseball and softball clinics and camps. Clinics beginning in March include baseball and softball hitting, and umpire instruction.

The final piece of the triple threat is the batting cages and tunnels. The batting cages, which provide the newest technology, are available during hours of operation and cost $1 for 12 pitches.

"It never costs more than a dollar to hit some balls," Fairley said. He said this gives people the chance to brush up on their technique without spending a fortune.

There are also eight batting tunnels on site, equipped with pitcher's mounds and adjustable pitching machines, which can be rented by the half and full hour.

The Ballston Spa location of Extra Innings is part of a nationwide franchise. It's open to the public and offers three membership options and three birthday party packages, said Fairley.
