The eight candidates running for Congressman Michael McNulty's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives gathered at the SEIU 1199 headquarters building Wednesday, May 14, for a debate.
While many speculated whether former New York State Assemblyman PaulTonko would be filling the 8th candidate seat at the debate, therefore confirming that he was in fact running in the race, however at the debate, he announced that a few days prior he had officially decided to run.
Also at the debate, in which issues varying from global warming to universal healthcare were debated, were candidates John Aretakis, Tracey Brooks, Craig Burridge, Lester Freeman, Darius Sahainfar, Phil Stearck and Arthur Welser.
A few unique remarks made by the candidates include Freeman's \18 to 20 plan in which 20 would be the central age for people to buy tobacco, drink alcohol, enlist in a military service and get married and Welser's initiative to have students in remedial school on Saturdays.
