PBA president's son arrested on child porn charges

Jason McLaughlin, 29, of Latham, son of Colonie Police Benevolent Association President Tom McLaughlin, was arrested Monday, May 19, on federal charges of child pornography after allegedly drugging a minor with Ambien sleeping pills and filming her while naked, a Colonie official said.

McLaughlin, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma for over a year ago, has been receiving donations from various fundraisers of the PBA, and throughout the town, to help battle his illness.

Federal immigration agents found a computer hard drive in McLaughlin's bedroom with explicit images of the child on them. The girl is said to be between the ages of 11 and 12 years old.

Director of Town Operations Peter Gannon said Tuesday, May 20, that an ongoing investigation is in process.
