Pairings for the Section II baseball playoffs were announced Wednesday at the Boght Baseball Complex in Latham, with Shenendehowa and Loudonville Christian among the seven teams receiving No. 1 seeds.
Shen earned the No. 1 seed out of the Suburban Council and a first-round bye in Class AA. The Plainsmen host the winner of Thursday's Niskayuna-Amsterdam game Saturday at 11 a.m.
Bethlehem earned the No. 2 seed out of the Suburban Council after winning the Gold Division title. The Eagles host either Christian Brothers Academy or Shaker in Saturday's quarterfinal round. CBA and Shaker play at 4 p.m. Thursday at CBA's Colonie campus.
Undefeated LaSalle is the top seed out of the Big 10. The Cadets -- New York's top ranked Class AA team -- will host either Guilderland or Schenectady at 11 a.m. Saturday at Geer Field in south Troy. Guilderland and Schenectady meet in Thursday's opening round at Guilderland High School.
Albany -- coached by Shaker High School graduate Joey DiPiazza -- makes its return to Sectional play Thursday when it hosts Colonie at Bleecker Stadium. The Falcons are the No. 2 seed out of the Big 10, while Colonie is the No. 7 seed from the Suburban Council.
Queensbury and Columbia meet in the other first-round game Thursday, with the winner advancing to meet either Albany or Colonie Saturday.
In Class A, South Glens Falls received the No. 1 seed after winning the Foothills Council. The Bulldogs host No. 8 Bishop Maginn in Saturday's quarterfinal round.
Suburban Council White Division champion Mohonasen is the No. 2 seed. The Mighty Warriors will play No. 7 Glens Falls Saturday at Rotterdam's Memorial Park.
Scotia-Glenville earned the No. 3 seed and a quarterfinal home game against No. 6 Lansingburgh Saturday at 11 a.m. No. 4 Ichabod Crane and No. 5 Gloversville meet in the other quarterfinal game.
