Guilderland Chamber to relocate

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce will have a new home after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Its new location will be Star Plaza, 2050 Western Ave. Suite 109, formerly Lamentation Preservation.

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce is an organization that is dedicated to helping its members grow and succeed. To further enhance this notion of success, the GCC felt it was necessary to be more visible and accessible to the community, according to a statement from Executive Director Kathy Burbank.

The Chamber is moving from Pega Plaza, Suite 105, near the corner of Route 20 and Route 155.

Burbank said in the statement that making the Chamber more visible from Route 20 has been a priority since she took over as executive director in 2007, and this move will help to accomplish that.

Don Csaposs, former chair of the Economic Development Advisory Council, said the move would be beneficial to the Chamber and the town because of the increased visibility of its new building.

"Visibility is important for any organization," he said. "It's much more visible [now]. The site where the Chamber was located for the past several years faces the back of a small building," Csaposs said. "There was zero visibility."

"It puts them more significantly on the map," Csaposs added.

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce was founded 36 years ago, and now, Burbank said, this move will enhance its role and accessibility for its members.

"With an abundance of parking, great restaurants, superb shops, and a convenient location, this move will enhance member communication with the organization," she said.

Burbank also thanked the Ermides family, which manages the Star Plaza, for their help in making the transition possible.

?Star Plaza management has been instrumental in helping us move to this location. We could not have moved here without their assistance,? Burbank said.

The chamber will close for the move and for the Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and will reopen on Monday, Dec.1, at its new location.

The chamber's phone number, 456-6611, will remain the same and chamber information is available on the website www.guilderlandchamber.com, according to information provided by the chamber.""
