Pingatore added the extra point to pull the Patriots within six points of Schalmont. The Sabres stood firm after that, though, and earned their first perfect divisional record since classification play began several years ago.
Gallo continued to rack up yards and touchdowns on the ground. The junior rushed for 178 yards on 30 carries and scored two of Schalmont's three first-quarter touchdowns.
Schalmont is one of two area teams heading to the playoffs this weekend. Niskayuna qualified for the Class AA Sectionals after finishing third in the Liberty Division with a 3-2 divisional record. The Silver Warriors (4-3 overall) travel to Empire Division runner-up Shenendehowa (5-1, 5-2) for Friday's quarterfinal game.
Scotia-Glenville had an opportunity to make the Class A playoffs, but the Tartans lost to Averill Park 24-14 in last Saturday's final regular season game to drop into fifth place with a 1-4 record (2-5 overall). Scotia-Glenville meets South Glens Falls Saturday in a crossover game.
Mohonasen (1-4, 1-6) hosts Queensbury in another Class A crossover Friday.""
