The lead changed hands three more times before halftime. Ambrosio scored on a one-yard touchdown run to put Shaker in front before Colonie regained the advantage when Branche connected with Matt Hamilton on a 47-yard scoring strike. Pryor ended the wild series of events with a six-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the second quarter to give the Blue Bison a 27-26 advantage.
Shaker gained some breathing room in the second half. Pryor scored on an 18-yard run in the third quarter, and Walsh opened the fourth quarter with a 25-yard field goal to put the Blue Bison ahead 37-26.
Branche tried to rally Colonie. He scored his second rushing touchdown of the game midway through the fourth quarter and tossed a two-point conversion pass to Sean Peer to pull the Garnet Raiders within five points. But Pryor added his fourth touchdown run to seal Shaker's victory.
Branche passed for 102 yards and rushed for 68 yards to lead Colonie's offense, which made the most of its opportunities.
"We only punted once," said Preston. "What they (Shaker) did was they did a good job of playing keepaway" by running Pryor.
Shaker visits Niskayuna Friday in a Liberty Division game, while Colonie travels to Columbia.
"Obviously, it's a great win against Colonie for the cup, but it's only one game. We've got another divisional game coming up," said Bender.""
