The Shaker boys and Queensbury girls track and field teams dominated last Saturday's Warrior Classic at Niskayuna High School.
Shaker easily claimed the boys team title with 126 points, more than double runner-up Ballston Spa's total of 62 points, while Queensbury won the girls title with 108 points. Ballston Spa finished second with 96 points.
Niskayuna placed fifth in the girls team standings with 50 points and ninth in the boys team standings with 26 points. Scotia-Glenville's boys team was third with 37 points, while the girls team finished 11th with 10 points.
Sprinters Robert Johnson and Brian Letourneau led Shaker. Johnson won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.2 seconds, while Letourneau claimed the 200-meter dash title wit6h a time of 23.1 seconds.
Chris Herman and Craig Weiss also won individual races for the Blue Bison. Herman finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.9, three-tenths of a second ahead of Niskayuna's Robbie DeWald, while Weiss won the 1,500-meter race in a time of 4:11.3. Niskayuna's Marshall Pagano was second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:12.4.
Niskayuna's Louis Serafini prevented Shaker runners from sweeping the distance events. Serafini won the 3,000 in a time of 8:59.1, nearly four seconds ahead of Shaker's Ryan Egan.
Other winners of individual track events included Schuylerville's Shane Wagner (110 and 400 hurdles) and Roosevelt's Chris Davis (400 dash).
Shaker also claimed two of the three boys relay races. The team of Brendan Dolan, Matt Dustin, Matt Conti and Abara Oluebube won the 1,600 relay in a time of 3:33.0, and the quartet of Egan, Matt Blizinski, Christian Delago and Casey Gillboy finished first in the 3,200 relay with a time of 8:24.6. Roosevelt High School of Yonkers won the 400 relay in a time of 44.6 seconds.
