South Colonie adopts $88m budget

The South Colonie Central School District Board of Education adopted an $88.6 million budget at last night's (Tuesday, April 21) Board of Education meeting.

The budget reflects a .38 percent change in spending over last year's budget, and a 1.92 percent tax levy increase over last year's $61.157 million tax levy.

The tax rate associated with the 2009-2010 budget is not yet known, and, according to the district's Communications Coordinator John Noetzel, will not be known until July.

Also last night, the board announced a \Meet the Candidates night, to be held Monday, April 27, at the district office, on 102 Loralee Drive, at 7 p.m. Current Board President Tim Ryan will be running unopposed for his seat, while three candidates will be running for the one board seat left vacant this year after Vernon Fonda resigned from the board. Those candidates are David Kiehle, George Penn and Theodore Thompson.
