Guilderland Superintendent to retire in July

Guilderland Superintendent of Schools John McGuire will be retiring at the end of the school year, he told The Spotlight Newspapers on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

It's a big decision, he said. "I've been in education for 40 years."

McGuire said he has been approached with some "flattering" offers for after his retirement and he will give them due diligence, time and consideration.

"I am honored and proud that I am capping off my administration with wonderful colleagues here in Guilderland," McGuire said.

He noted there are great students and staff in the district and he expects them to flourish.
