Shenendehowa keeps on rolling

Mike MacElroy had 17 points to lead a balanced Saratoga attack, while Ryan Ochs scored 15 points for Guilderland.

Saratoga and BH-BL each entered their Tuesday games off tough losses last Friday. Shaker edged Saratoga 72-67 in Latham, while BH-BL fell to Niskayuna 47-38.

Shaker (3-1) got things going early by outscoring Saratoga 23-12 in the first quarter. Saratoga's offense turned things around over the next three periods, but the Blue Streaks never caught up to the Blue Bison.

Chris Hooks scored 19 points, Scott Seiter contributed 18 points and Eric Sinko added 13 points for Shaker, which hasn't lost a game since dropping its season opener against Shen Dec. 4. MacElroy's 22 points paced Saratoga.

BH-BL needed a half to shake off the rust in its season opener against Niskayuna, which turned out to be the difference in the game. Niskayuna grabbed a 23-10 halftime lead, and BH-BL never recovered.

Kyle Bayly netted 14 points, and Aaron Wyngowski contributed 11 points for Niskayuna. Brandon Beatty had 13 points for BH-BL.

In Western Athletic Conference action last weekend, Saratoga Central Catholic (0-1, 0-2) ran into a buzz saw in a 70-40 loss to Fonda-Fultonville.

Seth Hidde scored 20 points, and Brandon Mercado chipped in 15 points for Fonda-Fultonville, which led 24-7 after the first quarter. Greg Ronayne led Saratoga Catholic with 12 points."
