Break time for Shenendehowa girls

Shen's defense has been equally tough this season, as it hasn't allowed an opponent to reach the 40-point plateau in any of its four wins.

"The defense is what will lead us this year," said Strube.

The Plainsmen will try to keep that defense sharp during the holiday break. Strube has scheduled scrimmages with two of the top Colonial Council teams, Lansingburgh " which is coached by former Shen standout Krystal Hammond " and Holy Names.

"We have a couple of scrimmages and we'll have some practices. So, we're not going to take too much time off," said Strube.

Shen's next regular season game is Jan. 5 when it travels to Guilderland.

Other Saratoga County girls basketball teams are going to be active during the holiday break. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake hosts its annual tournament Monday and Tuesday " a field which includes Ballston Spa and Scotia-Glenville " and Saratoga Springs hosts Schenectady in a non-league game next Wednesday.
