Evan Palmer led Shen with individual victories in the shot put and weight throw. Palmer's best throw in the shot put was 56 feet, and his best toss in the weight throw was 58 feet, 8 inches.
James Glover was also a double winner for the Plainsmen. He finished first in the 1,000 with a time of 2:44.27, and he teamed up with Daniel Harris, Freddie Hance and Alex Leuchanka to win the 3,2000 relay in a time of 8:20.44.
Shen's Mike Valiquette added a victory in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 11.75 inches.
Tim Mount was Saratoga's top individual performer. Mount won the 300 dash in a time of 37.51 and helped the Blue Streaks' 1,600 relay team take the league title. The quartet of Mount, Jason Kowalski, Stefan Rafaniello and Mike Seahorn finished with a time of 3:39.93.
BH-BL's Otis Ubriaco scored a Suburban Council title in the 1,600. The sophomore finished with a time of 4:26.18.
Ballston Spa'a Mike Villano came within a heartbeat of winning the 55 dash. After scoring the fastest qualifying time in the semifinals, Villano finished second to Shaker's Alvin Porter in the finals by .02 of a second. Porter won with a time of 6.80 seconds, while Villano settled for second place with a time of 6.82 seconds. Ballston Spa's Brian Yingling was third in the final with a time of 6.87 seconds.
Ballston Spa, Saratoga and Shen return to the University at Albany Sunday for the inaugural Great Dane Classic the last meet before the Section II championships. The meet replaces the Engineer Games, which were annually held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute."
