Colonie surge into first place

The Colonie boys basketball team moved a half-game ahead of Mohonasen in the battle for the Suburban Council South Division lead with Thursday's 57-46 victory over Columbia.

The Garnet Raiders (11-4 league, 13-6 overall) jumped out to a 16-point halftime lead on the Blue Devils. Columbia closed the gap a bit in the third quarter before Colonie pulled away for good.

Kyle Mafrici continued his hot shooting. Mafrici scored 20 points to lead Colonie to its sixth consecutive win. Herb Tedford contributed 12 points."
