Phillips made some good saves for Niskayuna/Schenectady, too, but it was only a matter of time before Shaker/Colonie got on the scoreboard. Brustle broke the scoreless tie less than five minutes into the second period by stuffing home a shot on a 5-on-3 power play. Less than three minutes later, Vetrone skated in alone after taking a pass just outside the blue line and scored to make the score 2-0.
Before Phillips could take a breath, he faced another breakaway 10 seconds later. This time, Brian Seniw converted a pass from Zach Dooley and scored to give the Jets a 3-0 lead.
Phillips settled down after that and made several saves late in the second period to keep the Mohawks within striking distance. But there was nothing he could do to stop Vetrone's shot 1:14 into the third period, as Shaker/Colonie's senior co-captain scored on a power play to increase the Jets' lead to 4-0. Brustle tallied midway through the period, and Tyler Huber added a power play goal with 1:17 left to finish the scoring.
Shaker/Colonie returned to CDHSHL action Tuesday when it traveled to Troy to face LaSalle in a Division I battle. The Jets' next home game is Friday against Bethlehem.""
