Upcoming tech school to receive $500,000

HVCC began providing courses in solar panel installation in September of 2006, partly thanks to a competitive grant from the state Energy Research and Development Authority, which owns STEP.

Educators from surrounding areas are expected to make use of the solar energy apparatuses and take what they learn back to the classroom. Clinton, Erie and Fulton-Montgomery County Community Colleges, North Country Community College and the SUNY Institute of Technology and Canton campuses are expected to make use of TEC-SMART's offerings.

Cuomo also announced Thursday that another $500,000 of the settlement will be used to outfit 140 school buses in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties with anti-idling technologies that will reduce their diesel fumes.""
