UPDATED: Special zoning committee awaits approval in Guilderland

Runion said he asked town board members to submit resumes to him, and received one from Town Board Member Mark Grimm, although Runion was unable to confirm Grimm's recommendation lived in town. He said then contacted the Albany County and Town of Guilderland Republican Party chairs, but no other resume was ever presented to him.

Runion chose DuBois, a Republican, to have the party represented on the board.

Sherwin, Runion's recommended selection for chair of the committee, said the committee has been discussed for a while, and now is a good time to undertake the endeavor.

"We're looking to make sure they are compatible," Sherwin said of the Comprehensive Plan and zoning laws. "You want things to align properly."

Sherwin, in addition to being a former town board member, is also in the publishing business.

"There's a strong emphasis on business people," he said. He said addressing the issues of business owners is important for the town.

"We're trying to keep this fair and beyond politics," Sherwin added.
