If the deficit is restored, only 2.8 positions would be cut.
Other items discussed included the teaching budget, which would see a net increase of $530,766. The budget for professional salaries would see an increase of $572,947 and the budget for support staff would see an increase of $13,020. There would potentially be reductions for funding equipment and textbooks.
"We've always tried to do things in an efficient way," said Denise Swezey, superintendent for business at Mohonasen Central School District.
According to the state Department of Education, for the 2006-2007 school year, Mohonasen had the lowest per pupil expenditures for Schenectady County schools at $11,523. Duanesburg Central School District had the highest per pupil expenditure at $14,009.
The next budget meeting will take place Monday, April 6, at 6 p.m. The board will vote to adopt the budget Monday, April 20.""
