The shelter is still raising funds to pay for veterinary equipment, exercise pens and eight "get acquainted" areas where dogs can meet potential owners. More than $200,000 has been raised so far, and the dog walk promises to increase that total.
Busy Bone registration will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Anyone can walk with a donation of any size to the shelter. It's a half-mile walk, but in practice, the distance traveled is entirely up to the canines.
A blessing of the animals starts at 11 a.m., followed by a round of pet tricks at 11:30. Opening ceremonies take place at noon, and the walk steps off at 12:15 p.m.
There will be awards given to the walkers who raised the most in sponsorships following the race.
Other upcoming shelter activities include an offsite adoption clinic at the Wilton Mall May 15 to 17. There will be a Responsible Pet Ownership Presentation at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16, with an adoption clinic following from noon to 2 p.m.
