Malta aims to make parade a tradition

After the parade, the event will continue at the speedway, with military and antique vehicles on display and a ceremony to incinerate old flags. A "Taste of Malta" event will also be tied in, with the Malta Business and Professionals Association selling tickets exchangeable for food from local vendors.

Sen. Roy McDonald, a veteran of the Vietnam War, is to be the keynote speaker, and will address eventgoers before the fireworks display goes off at dusk. Attendees are promised an unparalleled view from the grandstands of the speedway.

Organizers are still looking for veterans, servicemen and women and Boy and Girl Scout troops to march in the parade. Those willing to donate the use of convertibles for veterans unable to walk the parade route should also contact Audrey Ball at 899-4411.

In the event of rain, the festival will be held Sunday, June 28.""
