Guilderland girls topple Columbia

The Guilderland girls soccer team scored four times in the first half on its way to a 6-0 victory over Columbia Thursday in a Suburban Council South Division game.

Six different players tallied for the Lady Dutch (5-4-3), led by Marissa Cubillos and Kim Weinberg with a goal and an assist apiece. Jenna Crupi, Casey Gerety, Michaela Maybee and Emily Nagle had Guilderland's other goals.

Columbia goaltender Marlee Wachholder had 15 saves.

In other girls soccer action Thursday, Voorheesville edged Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 2-1 in a Colonial Council contest.

Jenn Belgiovone and Hannah Backett scored in the second half to lead a Blackbird comeback. Emily Scott recorded R-C-S's lone goal in the first half off a feed from Ashley TenEyck.

Voorheesville improved its record to 7-5-1, while R-C-S dropped to 6-7."
