"I think it is a good balance between getting information out into the public electronically, as well as not generating excessive, unnecessary work for our staff," Messina said. "This board is moving together on this, and that's good."
Hennessey has publicly distributed the most recent draft in hopes of garnering public opinion. It's not the way the legislative process often goes, but given the topic at hand opening it up for scrutiny seems appropriate, he said.
"This is a new way of doing things," Hennessey said. "This is the Town Board, town supervisor, town residents, working together and creating a policy on how we do things. And I think there's something really beautiful and refreshing about that form of direct democracy."
